THE OBJECTIVE

 

The Annual Awards were launched in November 2003, in honor of BBLF's fifth anniversary and in an effort to promote the responsible behavior of business in Bulgaria. The main objective of the Awards is to give credit to companies with remarkable record in the field of corporate social responsibility and encourage other business leaders to start or further develop socially beneficial activities.

 

Since 2004, the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum is a national coordinator of the European Commission Business Awards for Environment, which are given every two years. Thus, the Forum is authorized to nominate the company, winner in "Investor in Environment", for one of the most prestigious business awards in Europe. The Forum can also choose the Bulgarian representative in the European Awards' jury.

THE CATEGORIES

 

Investor in Community - promoting leaders in responsible business practices that benefit long-term social development and well-being. Last year's winner - Danone Serdica with their annual football tournament for children "Danoniada".

 

Investor in Environment - recognizing the achievements of companies who pioneer environmentally friendly policies and products, and encouraging others to follow their example. The winner of the 2008 BBLF Annual Award for Investor in the Environment will be nominated for the European Business Award for the Environment granted by the European Commission. Last year's winner - Devnya Cement, with its project for the creation of new production installations, which correspond to all European standards for environmental protection.

 

Investor in Human Capital and Working Conditions - acknowledging the successes of companies who strive for sustainable development through encouraging the continuous professional growth of their employees and who perform practical steps for improving the working conditions for their employees. Last year's winner -  Overgas Inc. with the project "Professional qualification and social responsibility towards the employees".

 

Investor in Knowledge - praising the efforts of companies who work with zeal and determination to fill in the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the Bulgarian educational system. Also, those companies work towards improving the qualifications of young people and helping the scientific and research activities. Last year's winner - INTRACOM Bulgaria for their participation in the campaign "Ready for Success" for the granting of scholarships to high-school and university students, who are orphans.

 

Award for Cause-related Marketing This is given to a company that promotes its products or services and at the same time declares its support to a cause. The support could come in money - percentage of the cost, but also can spread a good message to all clients at large. Thus, consumers not only join the company in its socially-responsible behavior, but they can also learn more about the needs of society. Last year's winner - Avon Cosmetics with a breast cancer awareness program, aiming at a successful fight with the decease.

 

 

THE CRITERIA

 

Applying projects must meet the following criteria:
- Benefit for society
- Work in partnership with other organizations
- Engagement of the whole company in the implementation of the project/s
- Duration and consistency of the initiatives
- Innovativeness
- Public evaluation

 

 

All companies in Bulgaria are eligible for the Awards, regardless if they are BBLF members or not.

 

Тhis year, for the second time, there will be a special award for the good case practices of a small enterprises.

 

Accepted are both nominations and self-nominations.

 

Companies are not allowed to apply with the same project in more than one category.

 

 

Ceremony for the 7th Annual Responsible Business Awards will take place on February 16th!
